PARIS โ A popular tourist spot in Paris is now quiet, due to traffic restrictions put in place in preparation for the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games on Friday.
The area around the Seine River, home to many tourist attractions, will serve as the site of the opening ceremony and will have a designated anti-terrorism security perimeter. Access to the closed area requires a pass, which can be obtained in advance.
Only sporadic sightings of people were seen in the square in front of Notre Dame Cathedral, which is being rebuilt since a tragic fire in 2019. Access to the area will remain restricted until the opening ceremony is over.
