TOKYO (Jiji Press) — Foreign Minister Yoko Kamikawa and her Nigerian counterpart Yusuf Tuggar agreed to strengthen economic ties between their countries during their meeting Tuesday in Nigeria, Japan’s Foreign Ministry said Wednesday.
Speaking at the meeting, Kamikawa said Japan will extend cooperation to the activities of start-up companies in Nigeria. The Nigerian minister showed expectation that Japanese funds and technologies will be utilized in Nigeria and more Japanese companies will enter the African country.
Both ministers also pledged to strengthen ties with their countries ahead of a ministerial meeting on African development that Japan will host in Tokyo in August.
Nigeria, a natural gas producing country with the largest population in Africa, is considered to have high growth potential.
