Japan is concerned about China’s military exercises around Taiwan

Tokyo has conveyed to Beijing its concerns about Chinese military exercises around Taiwan, Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshimasa Hayashi said on Thursday.

“We will continue to convey directly and firmly to China the importance of peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait,” Hayashi said at a news conference, as he stressed Japan’s intention to work closely with the United States and other like-minded countries. “We will closely monitor the development of cross-strait relations and continue our diplomatic efforts.”
