Nikkei closes at record high for second straight day

TOKYOJul 10 (Japan News) – The Nikkei Stock Average closed at 41,831 yen today, a record high for the second day in a row.

On the Tokyo stock market, the Nikkei Stock Average closed 251 yen higher today than yesterday at 41,831 yen, marking a new record high for the second day in a row. In addition, the Tokyo Stock Price Index (TOPIX), which reflects the overall price movement of large listed companies, also reached a record high of 2,909.20 points at the close. Financial stocks were the main driver of this rise.

Today, long-term interest rates on the domestic bond market temporarily rose to 1.09%. Expectations that they will continue to rise led to an increase in buy orders for financial stocks, such as banks and insurance companies, which are expected to see better profits.
