The Pentagon has outlined the type of low-cost, unmanned systems it plans to deploy next year under its Replicator program to help offset China’s military advantage in personnel and manned equipment and deter a possible invasion of Taiwan .
โThe first tranche of Replicator capabilities will include unmanned surface vehicles (USV), unmanned aerial systems (UAS) and counter-manned aerial systems (c-UAS) of varying sizes and payloads from a variety of traditional and non-traditional vendors,โ That US Deputy Secretary of Defense Kathleen Hicks said in an email on Monday rack.
The Replicator initiative is part of a radical new strategy unveiled last August that aims to deploy thousands of low-cost, smart and autonomous attack drones across multiple domains to match China’s fast-growing air and naval power and ensure that Washington has the edge in any potential conflict.
