Shinkansen will get private rooms by fiscal year 2026, JR Tokai announces

Central Japan Railway Co. will install private rooms on Tokaido Shinkansen bullet trains by fiscal year 2026, the company said Wednesday.

There will be two private rooms on each Shinkansen train. Prices are still undecided, but are expected to be higher than for Green Car seats (first class).

Each private room has one or two reclining chairs with leg rests. The private rooms will also be equipped with dedicated Wi-Fi, adjustable lighting and air conditioning.
