The United States Olympic soccer team plays its final warm-up against Japan in Kansas City ahead of the tournament in France in July.
The U.S. team, an under-23 squad with three Olympic-aged players, will face Japan, which has also qualified, at Children’s Mercy Park, home of MLS club Sporting Kansas City.
The United States has not qualified for an Olympic men’s soccer tournament since 2008 in Beijing.
โWe have had some productive training camps in preparation for the Olympic Games and we are excited to play in front of American fans in our final match before traveling to France,โ said head coach Marko Mitrovic.
“It’s important for us to continue building toward the Olympic Games and we know Japan will be a strong test. Kansas City is known for its passionate soccer fans and it will be a great host for our final match in the United States.”
At the Olympic Games, the Americans will face host nation France in Marseille on July 24, two days before the opening ceremony in Paris.
The US will then face New Zealand on July 27, also in Marseille, and conclude the group stage against Guinea three days later in Saint-Etienne.
