Tokyo DisneySea on Thursday opened its new Fantasy Springs area showing popular Disney films at the theme park in Urayasu, Chiba Prefecture, east of Tokyo.
The new area has three zones where visitors can experience the worlds of Disney films ‘Frozen’, ‘Tangled’ and ‘Peter Pan’, along with four attractions. It also has a hotel, where luxury rooms cost more than ยฅ340,000 per night.
Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse appeared at the opening ceremony in the morning, where the launch of Fantasy Springs was celebrated with fireworks and fanfare.
โWith its overwhelming worldview and its beauty and power created with extreme attention to detail, it is one of our finest masterpieces that we can be proud of anywhere in the world,โ said Yumiko Takano, chairman of Oriental Land, the theme park operator . .
To enjoy the attractions, in addition to a ticket to DisneySea, visitors need a free Standby Pass that specifies the time they can visit an attraction, or a paid Disney Premier Access that allows them to choose the time of their visit.
Visitors can download Standby Pass or Disney Premier Access via the Tokyo Disney Resort smartphone app after entering the theme park.
A woman in her 60s from Tochigi Prefecture enjoyed โAnna and Elsa’s Frozen Journey,โ a water attraction that takes visitors through โFrozenโ events. She said with a smile, “It was like being in another world.”
Oriental Land invested approximately 320 billion yen in the 140,000 square meter area, its largest investment since the opening of Tokyo DisneySea in 2001.
Oriental Land expects the Fantasy Springs region to increase its annual revenue by approximately ยฅ75 billion, helping the company achieve record consolidated profits in the year ending March 2025.
