Paraguay law enforcement authorities have announced that two elderly Japanese men have been found dead in their home in Pirapo, southern Paraguay.
Authorities suspect someone broke into the house due to robbery and killed them by hitting them with a blunt object.
The Japanese embassy in Paraguay said the two men were brothers. Paraguayan prosecutors identified them as Tsutae Sugawara, 70, and Takemi Sugawara, 69.
An employee who worked under Tsutae called police on Sunday and said Tsutae had reported he was in an emergency situation. Police entered the house by breaking open the locked door and found the two dead, bleeding from their heads.
After World War II, many Japanese migrated to Pirapo. According to media reports, the two were involved in agricultural activities.
