Trees wreathed in Vivid Red Line Avenue in Kanazawa; Morning sun creates a vision of flames and enraptures passersby

KANAZAWA — The leaves in Kanazawa have reached their fall peak.

Along America-fu-dori Avenue (American Sweetgum Avenue) near Kanazawa Municipal Hall, 47 American Sweetgum trees are ablaze with red leaves over a length of about 250 meters, delighting the eyes of passers-by.

“The red of the leaves is much more vibrant than normal. It is especially recommended to view them in the morning because the autumn leaves look illuminated by the sun,” said volunteer guide Masakatsu Miyauchi, 81, as he looked at the trees.
