US President Joe Biden told wealthy donors in New York’s Hamptons that he is concerned about his performance in the debate against Donald Trump. He promised that he would continue to seek re-election.
“I understand the concerns about the debate,” Biden said Saturday at the seaside Hamptons estate of hedge fund manager Barry Rosenstein and his wife, Lizanne, who hosted him for a fundraiser. “I get it. I didn’t have a great night.”
With about 150 people in attendance, Biden reiterated that he wouldn’t run “if I didn’t believe I could win” as he tries to rebuild momentum after Thursday’s debate debacle, which has unsettled Democrats. New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy, a Democrat, hosted a reception for Biden later Saturday.
