A Chinese woman has died in critical condition after she tried to stop a knife attack that injured a Japanese woman and her child in Suzhou, eastern China’s Jiangsu province, on Monday. Local security officials said the woman died in Suzhou, eastern China’s Jiangsu province.
The woman, Hu Youping, 54, died on Wednesday, according to the country’s official Xinhua News Agency.
Hu, a guide on a Japanese school bus, was injured when she tried to stop a man with a knife as he boarded the bus. The bus was full of children.
The Suzhou government has decided to recognize her as a righteous and brave person.
On Friday, the Japanese embassy in China flew its flag at half-mast.
โWe deeply respect her courageous act and extend our sincere condolences,โ said Kenji Kanasugi, Japan’s ambassador to China.
