Swiss military personnel are pictured on Monday in the security zone of the Ukraine Peace Summit in Obburgen, near Burgenstock, Switzerland.

An international conference to implement a peace plan proposed by Ukraine will pledge not to allow any threat or use of nuclear weapons, the draft joint statement said.

The declaration to be presented this weekend in Switzerland at the Summit on Peace in Ukraine will cover, among other things, the safety of nuclear power plants, food security, the release of prisoners and the return of deported children.

Representatives of about 90 countries, including European leaders and Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, as well as international organizations are expected to participate in the conference to agree on the declaration.

According to the draft declaration, Ukrainian nuclear power plants, including the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant, โ€œmust operate safely under the full sovereign control of Ukraine.โ€

It calls for the โ€œfree, full and safe navigationโ€ of the Black Sea and the Azov Sea to allow the export of Ukrainian agricultural products โ€“ the transport of which has been blocked by the Russian military โ€“ and states: โ€œFood security should not be weaponized used. In each case.”

The draft also demands the release of all prisoners and the return of approximately 20,000 Ukrainian children forcibly transferred to Russia.

Initially, Ukraine proposed a ten-point peace formula, which included the withdrawal of Russian troops. However, to gain understanding from some countries that value their relations with Russia, the draft does not include any withdrawal of troops or criticism of Russia.

Russia was not invited to the meeting. However, the draft stated that โ€œachieving peace requires the involvement of all parties,โ€ emphasizing the importance of including Russia in the discussions.

According to diplomatic sources, some countries in the Middle East and elsewhere have opposed a joint statement, leaving the possibility of the statement being downgraded to a chairman’s statement.
