Hokkaido police arrested two women on Wednesday on suspicion of killing a 17-year-old high school student whose body was found in May.
Riko Uchida, 21, and a 19-year-old woman, both from Asahikawa City, Hokkaido, are suspected of pushing Runa Murayama, a high school student from Rumoi City, off a suspension bridge into a river in Asahikawa. April 19, resulting in her death.
Police said that after Murayama’s family reported her disappearance, police conducted searches in late May and found her body downstream of the Ishikari River.
According to investigators, the incident stemmed from a dispute involving social media.
The two women had already been arrested for locking the student in a car.
