While a recent sell-off in shares of chipmaker Nvidia has fueled fears of an artificial intelligence bubble, investors and asset managers still have a largely positive view of the technology – with some caveats.
Speaking at the Bloomberg Invest summit on Tuesday, Coatue Management founder Philippe Laffont said he is optimistic about AI despite the hype, and pointed out that more investment talk could actually be a good sign.
But he raised some concerns that geopolitical instability in China could impact production of the chips that power AI computing. If China invaded Taiwan, for example, it would have a negative impact on Nvidia shares and global stock markets, Laffont said.
