International furniture fair Salone del Mobile starts in Milan; Environmentally friendly Japanese companies among exhibitors

MILAN – Environmentally conscious Japanese companies are showing their wares at the 62nd Salone del Mobile.Milano, an international furniture fair that started on Tuesday in Milan.

About 2,000 companies and designers are participating in this year’s Salone, including Japanese companies Karimoku Furniture Inc., Maruni Wood Industry Inc. and Ritzwell & Co.

In recent years, these companies have tried to create products that are environmentally friendly. They have also captured the public’s attention with well-thought-out designs that allow their products to be used for a long time and by using recycled materials.

Salone del Mobile.Milano is part of the Milano Design Week. Exhibitions and events featuring design and art will take place in the Italian city until Sunday.

Visitors to the Salone can view new furniture, as well as model kitchens and bathrooms.
