Princess Kako’s visit to Greece causes a fashion frenzy with sold-out knitwear and dresses

TOKYOJune 1 (News On Japan) – Princess Kako, who visited Greece, has returned to Japan. She has been reported by local media as the ‘Diana of the East’ and her choice of clothing has caused quite a stir, with items selling out quickly.

Princess Kako, Prince Akishino’s second daughter, was seen smiling and shaking hands with hotel staff before heading to the airport. Her visit commemorated the 125th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Japan and Greece. This marks her third official overseas visit.

Kako commented: “This visit allowed me to experience the diverse charms of Greece and feel the strong bond between our countries. I am very satisfied.’

During her busy schedule, Princess Kako even learned a few phrases in Greek that she could use during her interactions.

Kako greeted, “Yasas (Hello), nice to meet you.”

She visited landmarks such as the Parthenon Temple and a monastery where Japan has contributed to restoration efforts. Moreover, she interacted with local students and showed her warm and friendly attitude.

Kako expressed her gratitude: “Thank you very much. I’m glad you study Japanese and have a deep affection for Japan. Please stay healthy. Efcharisto para para para poli (Thank you very much).’

The local media showed great interest in Princess Kako and reported on her role in international goodwill.

Local media dubbed her the ‘Diana of the East’ and emphasized her gentle personality, natural elegance and beauty. They also noted the recent challenges facing Japan’s royal family, which have focused attention on Kako.

Fashion craze: blue knitted and light blue dress sold out

In Japan, Princess Kako’s outfits, chosen especially for her visit, have also attracted a lot of attention.

During a visit to the Parthenon Temple, Kako wore a blue knit and white pants inspired by the Greek flag.

Mayuko Tomohiro of Pierrot Press said, “If she actually wore our product, that’s a great honor and quite surprising.”

The blue knit, believed to have come from an online store, quickly became a popular item. It cost 2,990 yen and sold out after the news broke. The next sale date has yet to be determined. This isn’t the first time Princess Kako’s fashion choices have caused a stir; a jacket she wore last year during a visit to Peru also sold out quickly.

Kako expressed her appreciation: ‘I am very happy that I was warmly received by everyone.’

On the day she visited Corfu’s Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Kako wore a light blue lace dress with a black belt accent. This dress also sold out, with CELFORD chief press officer Ichimayuko saying: ‘The dress has sold out and inquiries have skyrocketed. The applications are pouring in.’

During her six-day stay, Princess Kako maintained her cheerful attitude, adding to the goodwill between Japan and Greece. She returned to Japan on the afternoon of June 1.
