Research facility with JAXA opens near the linear Shinkansen station

KanagawaMar 25 (News about Japan– A new community-based research facility, including the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), has opened its doors near the site of an under-construction Linear Shinkansen station.

Located close to JR Hashimoto Station in Sagamihara, Kanagawa Prefecture, the facility named “FUN+TECH LABO” was developed by JR Central in anticipation of the station opposite the upcoming Linear Shinkansen Line.

Designated as a ‘Special Zone for the Robot Industry’, this establishment is part of an area dedicated to promoting the practical application of robots, with the aim of addressing the challenges of a rapidly aging society. It houses JAXA and autonomous driving technology companies among its occupants.

With the Linear Shinkansen expected to enter service after 2027, the journey from Shinagawa Station will be reduced to approximately ten minutes, improving accessibility to this innovative interchange.
