Sapporo event showcases large, intricate designs made with petals and sand; creations with crane and chrysanthemum motifs

Flower petals, sand and other natural materials were used to create intricate designs at the Sapporo Flower Carpet 2024, which kicked off Friday at seven locations in central Sapporo.

This year the event takes place for the 10th time and lasts until Sunday.

One design, 30 meters long and 7.5 meters wide – the largest ever created for the event – ​​is on display in Chuo Ward, Sapporo. The creation, made with 65,000 carnations, roses and other flowers, features the Japanese flag, cranes and chrysanthemums in the center.
