The EU countries are furious about the Hungarian vetoes on arms aid to Ukraine

European Union member states are increasingly irritated by Hungary’s withholding of more than 6.5 billion euros in urgently needed aid to Ukraine in its military struggle to fend off Russian attacks.

Budapest’s intransigence is sparking discussions among diplomats about how the EU fund could be protected from the Hungarian veto when it soon receives another influx of cash from the profits of immobilized Russian assets.

“I have seven pieces of legislation awaiting approval to mobilize resources to support Ukraine militarily,” EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell said at a news conference on Monday afternoon when asked about Hungary. “This delay can be measured in terms of human lives.”
