Travis Kelce ‘extremely grateful’ for new deal with Chiefs

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce wanted more money, but wasn’t interested in using leverage as a means to get it.

As it turns out, Kelce got what he wanted when the Chiefs reworked his contract and bumped his salary to $34.25 million over the next two seasons. The $17.125 million per year represents the highest average annual salary of all NFL tight ends.

“I’m not a sit-out guy,” Kelce said on the “New Heights” podcast with his brother Jason. ‘I’m not a man who perseveres. I’m a guy who likes to come into the building, and the Chiefs know that. So if they want to do this for me, knowing how much blood, sweat and tears it takes, I’m extremely grateful that I put into this.”
