Yuki Tsunoda will remain with the RB F1 team in 2025

Japanese driver Yuki Tsunoda will stay with RB for a fifth season in 2025, Red Bull’s Formula 1 team announced on Saturday.

The 24-year-old has scored points in five of eight races for the Italian team so far and RB said they had taken an option to retain him.

“I am very happy to remain with Visa Cash App RB and it is a good feeling that my future will be decided so early in the year,” he said in a statement.

“The team has a big development project ahead of it and I am happy to be part of it. It’s great to know that everyone appreciates all the hard work I’ve put in and that the team believes I can help it progress further up the grid. “

Tsunoda’s slim chances of moving on to reigning champions Red Bull ended earlier this week when they confirmed Mexican Sergio Perez for next season.

Team boss Laurent Mekies said the Honda-backed driver, whose future was uncertain as the Japanese manufacturer partnered with Aston Martin from 2026, had made a “simply phenomenal” step forward this year.

“He continues to surprise us all, race after race,” he added.

“There is no doubt about his natural speed, to which he has now added a much more mature approach. This combination makes him a very fast and consistent performer and a great team player.”

Tsunoda’s experienced Australian teammate Daniel Ricciardo is yet to be confirmed for 2025 and RB also have New Zealander Liam Lawson waiting in the wings.
