20% of Japanese companies have no medium-term plans, poll finds

A survey by Jiji Press found that about 20% of large Japanese companies do not have medium-term management plans that outline profit and other targets for the next three to five years.

The survey also found that about 10% of companies with medium-term plans are considering changing the duration of their plans or making other revisions.

The findings show that some Japanese companies are now looking to be more flexible in their response to changes in the business environment to ensure they achieve their long-term goals after years of dealing with sharp currency fluctuations, heightened geopolitical risks and other major environmental changes.
