After productive preseason play, guard Yuki Kawamura will sign a two-way NBA contract with the Memphis Grizzlies, ESPN reported Saturday.
The 23-year-old Kawamura, a native of Japan, averaged 3.4 points with 4.2 assists in 15.1 minutes per game through five preseason games, making 4 of 16 attempts from 3-point range.
A member of the Japanese national team that competed in the Paris Olympics, Kawamura played the past four seasons with the Yokahama B-Corsairs in Japan. In 2023, he was named B.League MVP.
At 6-foot-4, Kawamura will be the smallest player in the NBA and just the ninth player standing 6-foot-1 or shorter since the ABA-NBA merger in 1976, the report said.
