MUNAKATA, Fukuoka – The Mynavi Tour de Kyushu 2024, an international cycling race, was held over four days through October 14, with around 100 cyclists from 17 teams from Japan and abroad taking part in the action. The stage race covered a total distance of 387 kilometers in Fukuoka, Oita and Kumamoto prefectures. Fans gathered to cheer on the side of the road in every area and enjoy the high-powered cycling race.
The event, organized by Kyushu’s business community and relevant prefectures to attract incoming tourists, was first held last year.
This year’s race started on October 11 with a criterium around Kokura Castle in Kitakyushu, Fukuoka Prefecture, ideal for spectators. On the second day the riders raced on roads in the Oita stage, and in the Aso stage on the third day they raced against the backdrop of beautiful mountains. On the final day, October 14, the stage returned to Fukuoka Prefecture, where the riders completed nine laps of 14 kilometers along the coast and in the mountains, reaching the goal in Munakata.
The overall winner of the individual time classification was Emilien Jeanniere of the powerful French team TotalEnergies.
Next year’s event will take place in a total of five prefectures, with events in Nagasaki and Miyazaki accompanying events in Fukuoka, Kumamoto and Oita.
