TOKYOOctober 14 (News On Japan) – Japan Post has revealed that approximately 1.55 million postal savings account customers’ data was improperly used for the sale of insurance products by Japan Post Insurance without prior authorization.
Investigations into cases before 2014 were considered difficult, meaning the number of affected customers could increase.
Tetsuya Chida, President of Japan Post โThe reason is that we have failed to establish a system where proper handling rules are thoroughly implemented by employees. As head of management, I take full responsibility.โ
Chida also stated that the company will implement system improvements and employee training to prevent recurrence.
