An alleged plot to kill a US citizen and Sikh activist on US soil last year was approved by senior members of India’s intelligence community, including its then chief. reported the Washington Postciting people familiar with the matter who did not identify it.
The alleged plan to kill Gurpatwant Singh Pannun was approved by the former head of the Research and Analysis Wing, India’s spy agency, while other high-ranking RAW officials are also involved, the newspaper reported on Monday.
US intelligence agencies also tentatively determined that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s national security adviser was likely aware of RAW’s plan, although officials told the newspaper that no “smoking gun” evidence had emerged.
