Warning shots fired as North Korean troops crossed the border again

South Korean soldiers fired warning shots at what appeared to be dozens of North Korean troops briefly crossing the border dividing the peninsula, in the second such incident in less than two weeks.

More than 20 North Korean soldiers engaged in maintenance work crossed the border on Tuesday and headed back north after the shots were fired, Yonhap news agency reported, citing South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff.

The incident came amid lively North Korean activity near the border region, with soldiers recently laying new mines, renovating roads and erecting so-called anti-tank barriers along the border, the South Korean military said.
