Philippine Vice President Sara Duterte resigned from President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s cabinet on Wednesday. and another key post โ an unsurprising move given that her alliance with Marcos had long been expected to crumble.
Marcos has accepted Duterte’s resignation as education minister and vice chair of an anti-insurgent task force, Presidential Communications Secretary Cheloy Garafil said in a statement, adding that she did not give reasons for her resignation.
Duterte, who remains vice president, said at a news conference that her โresignation is not out of weakness, but out of genuine concern for teachers and the youth.โ
