Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner remain on collision course at Wimbledon

Defending champion Carlos Alcaraz and world number one Jannik Sinner remained on course for a thrilling showdown by reaching the quarter-finals, while second-seeded Coco Gauff was sent off on a wet Sunday.

French Open winner Alcaraz, looking to defend his Wimbledon trophy and complete the ‘Channel Slam’ (referring to the Channel that separates Great Britain and France), defeated Metz-born Ugo Humbert 6-3, 6-4, 1-6, 7-5.

“I think I’m getting better every match I play,” said Alcaraz, who was glad he didn’t have to face another five-set battle after Frances Tiafoe was the decider in the previous round.
