Low-cost carrier Jetstar Japan Co. has decided to cancel five domestic flights scheduled to depart from Narita Airport on Saturday.

Narita International Airport Corp. reported that about 1,500 people spent the night in the terminals due to a large number of canceled flights on Friday.

Point-of-sale systems at restaurants and gift shops at Universal Studios Japan, a theme park in Osaka, also experienced problems starting around 2 p.m. Friday. All affected restaurants and shops temporarily suspended operations.

On Saturday at 8:30am, restaurants and shops began operating as scheduled. Although ticket sales in the park were to be suspended on Saturday and Sunday, the parkโ€™s computer systems have now been restored and ticket sales are back to normal.

At West Japan Railway Co., a web service was malfunctioning, causing the positions of some trains to temporarily not be displayed.
