Eleven years after Mats Hummels, Marco Reus and Borussia Dortmund lost 2-1 to German rivals Bayern Munich in the 2013 Champions League final, they have overcome odds and returned to Wembley.
Dortmund’s 1-0 win over Paris Saint-Germain in the French capital secured a 2-0 victory for the Germans on Tuesday, making them the most unlikely Champions League finalists since Tottenham in 2019.
In the final on June 1 in London they will again face Bayern or fourteen-time champions Real Madrid. That tie stands at 2-2 after the first leg in Germany and will be concluded on Wednesday in Madrid.
