Disastrous results in British opinion polls show the scale of Sunak’s challenge

Less than three weeks before Britain’s general election, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak was buffeted this weekend by disastrous polling that suggests he has little chance of turning around his Conservative Party’s fortunes before the July 4 vote.

After Britain’s two main parties released their election manifestos last week, Keir Starmer’s Labor opposition extended its lead over the Tories in polls by Opinium for the Observer and the Sunday Telegraph’s Savanta.

Even more damaging for Sunak’s party, a seat-by-seat analysis by Survation showed Labor on course for a large majority, with the Conservatives winning 72 of the 650 seats in the House of Commons, compared to 365 last elections in 2019.
