TOKYOOctober 9 (News On Japan) – Honda has presented its next generation of EVs, due to hit the market in 2026, with smaller batteries and motors that will reduce the overall vehicle weight by 100 kilograms.
These improvements are intended to increase driving range while providing a more spacious interior.
The new models will feature generative AI, which, by analyzing the conditions inside the car through cameras, will suggest music suitable for the moment and encourage breaks during long drives.
Honda CEO Toshihiro Mibe commented: “This would be a once-in-a-century transformation, but continuing the traditional OEM business model in the automotive industry alone will not be enough to compete with new market entrants.”
Tesla in the US and BYD in China are currently leading the EV race, and Honda plans to deploy these advanced technologies globally from 2026 to challenge its competitors.
