KOBE – Visitors cheered with joy at killer whale performances at Kobe Suma Sea World, which opened on June 1 in Suma Ward, Kobe. The aquarium is the only place in western Japan to hold a killer whale show.

The private aquarium is located on the former site of a municipal aquarium long loved by Kobe residents. The new aquarium adopted approximately 90% of the creatures bred in its predecessor.

The new aquarium consists of three facilities, including the Orca Stadium, where the orca show takes place. There are approximately 19,000 creatures from around 560 species on display.

The orca show, the main attraction of the complex, has proven to be very popular. Standees for the show have been set up since the aquarium’s opening day.

Every time the orcas jumped and threw water with their flippers, the audience erupted in cheers.

Under the dynamic pricing system, ticket prices range from ยฅ2,900 to ยฅ3,700 for adults, from ยฅ1,700 to ยฅ1,800 for high school students and younger, and from ยฅ2,300 to ยฅ3,100 for those 65 and older.
