Israel sent tanks into eastern Jabalia in the northern Gaza Strip on Sunday after a night of heavy air and ground bombardment that killed 19 people and wounded dozens of others, Palestinian health officials said.
According to the Gaza Ministry of Health, the death toll during the Israeli military operation in Gaza has now passed the mark of at least 35,000 Palestinians. The bombing devastated the coastal enclave and caused a deep humanitarian crisis.
The war was sparked by a Hamas-led attack on southern Israel on October 7, which killed around 1,200 people and took more than 250 hostage, according to Israeli figures.
