TOKYOJune 12 (News On Japan) – Japan Airlines has taken measures to prevent a recurrence of safety incidents, including a ban on staff drinking alcohol during their overnight stays.
Japan Airlines President Mitsuko Tottori said: “We sincerely apologize to society and our customers for the inconvenience caused.”
On June 11, Tottori visited the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism to present recurrence prevention measures after five safety incidents since November last year, including aircraft wing collisions at Haneda Airport.
Due to incidents of pilots drinking together with colleagues, prevention measures include a temporary ban on all pilots and cabin crew from drinking alcohol during their overnight stays.
Japan Airlines also plans to strengthen management’s safety awareness and improve employee training.
