The Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) has announced that it will open a local office in Kyiv on October 10.
Through the office, JETRO will assist Japanese companies in contributing to the economic reconstruction of the region.
According to JETRO, about 40 Japan-related companies, including manufacturers and wholesalers, have branches in Ukraine. The organization will assign a permanent staff member to the office and help collect company-related information and match Japanese companies with local ones.
The establishment of the office in Kiev was mentioned in the joint communiquรฉ of the Japan-Ukraine Conference for Promoting Economic Growth and Reconstruction, held in Tokyo in February.
Ukraine has many start-ups in the field of information and communication technologies and is expected to grow in this area in the future. In recent years, Ukraine has participated in information and telecommunications-related exhibitions held in Japan and there are high expectations for cooperation with Japan-related companies.
JETRO also hopes to support the reconstruction of Ukraine through small and medium-sized enterprises.
