Japanese billionaire and influencer Yusaku Maezawa has said he has sued Facebook’s Japanese arm and its US parent company Meta over their failure to regulate the use of his name and image in investment fraud on their social media platforms.
In a message Wednesday on XMaezawa shared court documents he filed with the Tokyo District Court demanding that the defendants ban the use of his name and image in online advertisements and pay ยฅ1 ($0.006) in damages.
โOur main goal is to clarify whether their actions are illegal or not. In addition, we request a detailed presentation of their (although seemingly non-existent) efforts against fraudulent advertising, as well as questioning responsible parties in court,โ he wrote.
