Japanese supermarket chains are expanding their “quick commerce” delivery services to meet demand from young and old who want to save time and find it difficult to drive or walk to do their shopping.
The chains hope to increase consumer awareness of the service, which delivers prepared dishes such as pizza and fried chicken within 15 to 20 minutes of ordering. Demand for the service is expected to increase among people who want to watch the Paris Olympics from home.
Seven-Eleven Japan, the operator of the 7-Eleven convenience store chain, said Thursday it will expand its service of delivering pre-cooked pizza in at least 20 minutes to about 200 stores next month. It will offer two types of pizza, including the ยฅ780 Margherita.
