TOKYOOctober 14 (News On Japan) – A recent survey conducted by the Japan Sports Agency has revealed a lack of physical activity among teenage boys and girls, as well as women in their 30s and 40s.
The survey, conducted annually by the Japanese government, includes individuals aged 6 to 79 across the country.
An analysis of recent fitness test scores shows that teens’ fitness levels were at their peak before the COVID-19 pandemic, but have since declined.
Experts who analyzed the research attributed this trend to the increase in screen time, such as playing games or using social media on smartphones.
Similarly, a growing lack of exercise and declining fitness has been observed among women between the ages of thirty and forty. Experts noted: โThese women are often too busy with work, household chores and raising children, and many also seem to have a sense of discomfort when it comes to sports.โ
