With exactly 100 days to go until the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Paris, the official kit of the Japanese national team was unveiled in Tokyo on Wednesday.

Both Olympic and Paralympic athletes will wear the uniform during medal ceremonies and in the Olympic Village.

The red peaks are inspired by the sunrise in Paris and express the power and warmth of the gradient sky that takes on the morning glow.

The uniform, produced by major sporting goods manufacturer Asics Corp., is breathable but also retains heat, taking into account the climate in Paris, which has widely fluctuating temperatures.

According to Asics, the use of recycled materials led to 34% less greenhouse gas emissions during the production process of the uniforms compared to the sportswear produced for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games.

โ€œWith three months to go, I will gird myself again and do my best to achieve my goals,โ€ gymnast Daiki Hashimoto, 22, said at the press conference in Tokyo.
