Tokyo, April 23 (Jiji Press) – Japan’s new ‘V Point’ reward points program stumbled on the day it was launched, due to a glitch in related apps.
Sumitomo Mitsui Card Co. It halted a number of features, including balance displays and point spending, around 11 a.m. on Monday after discovering the apps were showing incorrect balances.
The new V Point program launched on that day through the merger of Culture Convenience Club Co.’s T-Point program. and the existing V Point program of Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group Inc., the parent company of Sumitomo Mitsui Card.
On Tuesday, the credit card company said the outage was resolved around 3 a.m., although it added that balance displays may still remain disrupted for some customers.
According to Sumitomo Mitsui Card, the outage was due to a problem with a system for linking user identification data between the two programs.
