Judoka Natsumi Tsunoda wins gold; Japan’s first medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics

Natsumi Tsunoda will compete against a Mongolian athlete in the final of the Olympic Games in Paris in the women’s judo category up to 48 kilograms.

Natsumi Tsunoda won the gold medal in the women’s judo category up to 48 kilograms on Saturday at the Olympic Games in Paris. With this she won her first Olympic medal for Japan at the Games.

In the final, Tsunoda defeated the Mongolian Baasankhuu Bavuudorj with tomoe-nage.

This is Tsunoda’s first appearance at the Olympics. She won all her matches by ippon and advanced to the final, where she won the gold medal by wazaari.
