Kawasaki aims to put the technology into practice in the early 2030s, as the hydrogen motorcycle uses Japan’s powerful combustion engine technology and emits no carbon dioxide.
The public test drive was held in conjunction with the Suzuka 8 Hours Road Race, which ran from Friday to Sunday. The motorcycle, equipped with two tanks of 25 liters of hydrogen each, completed a lap of the circuit to loud applause from the crowd.
The Hydrogen Small Engine Technology Research Association, made up of motorcycle manufacturers and other organizations, is working to develop the necessary technology for hydrogen motorcycles and establish standards for their use on public roads.
โWe want to achieve decarbonization while maintaining the feel of the engine and the feeling of acceleration,โ said a Kawasaki executive.
