Kirin-backed Indian brewer seeks greater influence with new plant

An Indian craft brewery backed by Japan’s Kirin is aiming to surpass established global brands by building a $70 million beer factory and raising new capital in preparation for an IPO in 2026.

B9 Beverages is building a new brewery in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh that, once completed, will become Indiaโ€™s largest brewery and expand production, founder and CEO Ankur Jain said in an interview. The company currently leases six breweries and sells the equivalent of 8 million cases of beer a year.

The New Delhi-based company has also appointed investment bank Morgan Stanley to lead a fresh round of financing ahead of its IPO.
