Prime Minister Fumio Kishida on Monday visited the city of Wajima in Ishikawa Prefecture, which was hit by a powerful earthquake on the Noto Peninsula on Jan. 1, to outline Japan’s policy to support the region with a task force for “creative” reconstruction.
Six months after the disaster hit the Central Japan region, Kishida wanted to show that Japan is fully committed to the recovery and reconstruction of the region.
He attended the first meeting of the task force, which was established the same day. The central government’s policy is to work with local governments to support the affected region.
