Fireworks brighten the night sky during the Makomanai Music Fireworks Festival on July 6.

SAPPORO — Fireworks lit up the night sky during a festival at the Makomanai Sekisui Heim Stadium in Sapporo’s Minami district on July 6.
People gathered to watch the 22,000 fireworks displays, one of the largest of its kind in Hokkaido, set off during the 12th Makomanai Music Fireworks Festival.
The fireworks were presented by Nihonbashi Marutamaya Co. of Tokyo, which participates in national and international fireworks festivals; Beniya Aoki Fireworks Co. of Nagano, which has won numerous top prizes at national fireworks competitions; and Hokkai Fireworks of Otaru, Hokkaido.
The music and light effects that accompanied the fireworks astonished the audience.
