She clocked 3:04:23 to finish fourth, but moved up after the Spanish runner in third place was disqualified.

Michishita, 47, born in Shimonoseki, Yamaguchi Prefecture, was diagnosed with corneal disease in the fourth grade of elementary school. She subsequently lost the sight in her right eye during middle school, as the sight in her left eye has also deteriorated.

After training in middle-distance running, she switched to marathon running in her 30s, making her Paralympic debut at the Rio Games.
