Reigning Formula 1 world champion Max Verstappen won for the sixth time this season, despite wet and dry conditions and a challenge from Lando Norris to conquer the Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal on Sunday.
Verstappen’s Red Bull Racing Honda finished the 70 laps at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve with a margin of 3.879 seconds over Britain’s Norris in his McLaren Mercedes. George Russell and his teammate Lewis Hamilton drove their Mercedes to third and fourth place respectively, while McLaren’s Oscar Piastri finished fifth.
Verstappen collected 25 points for the victory and increased his lead in the Drivers’ Championship from 31 to 56 points over Charles Leclerc, a Monaco native who did not finish the race. An engine problem and problems with slippery tires in wet conditions meant that Scuderia Ferrari pulled Leclerc’s car without points.
